Pakistan to continue coop in terror war, says Gilani

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan will continue it cooperation with the international community in war against terror in all its forms and manifestations, as it is in the countrys interest, however he made it clear that they wanted to be trusted as partners. The Premier was talking to Awami National Party (ANP) parliamentarians delegations, which called on him at the Prime Ministers House on Friday afternoon. He said the government believed in the policy of reconciliation and wanted to take along all the political parties on national issues. He said the government had been and would take all the MPs into confidence on important national issues including the Abbottabad incident. Gilani appreciated the role of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata in the fight against terrorism and militancy. The entire nation, he said, was united that they had get rid of this menace so that the standard of living of the people could be improved and development could be made. He apprised the delegation that he would soon be performing the groundbreaking ceremony of Khushhaal Ghar Bridge. He also assured that the government intended to initiate work on Chashma Right Bank uplift canal, which would irrigate Derea Ismail Khan and beyond. He also assured the delegation that requisite funds for projects in the KP nearing completion would be released at the earliest. The Leader of the ANP delegation while reciprocating the opening remarks of the Prime Minister said that ANP always supported the government and would continue to support on all policy matters as a coalition partner. The current situation, he added, demanded greater cooperation among all the political parties particularly the coalition partners. The delegation members appreciated the policy statement given by the Prime Minister in the National Assembly and the Senate and expressed determination to uphold the dignity and sovereignty of the country. They emphasised upon the release of funds for early completion of development schemes, which were nearing completion. They also stressed upon initiation of work on the construction of Munda Dam in addition to some other small dams in the province.
