One accused in rape, murder of girl in Ghotki held, SC told

ISLAMABAD - Deputy Superintendent Police Ghotki informed the Supreme Court Wednesday that one accused involved in rape and murder of minor girl has been arrested while other is still at large.
Arbab Ali Soomro informed a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk that a report of rape and murder of girl has been registered on the complaint of deceased mother.
The Chief Justice on April 29 taking notice of two news reports published in Urdu daily regarding rape and murder of minor girl and killing of a married woman by her husband in Sindh had sought reports from SSPs concerned through IGP Sindh within two weeks.
The Chief Justice had directed chairperson National Commission to submit report on the status of women regarding status of women as well as to provide statistical data of rape and murder of women in Pakistan and measures taken so far in this regard.
DSP Ghotki complying the order submitted report about rape and murder of girl. He said they have arrested Noor Hassan while Gul Hassan is still absconder and requested the court to give them sometime for his arrest as well.
A woman, Allah Wadhaye, and her 12-year-old daughter, Sheema Solangi, were gang raped and later they both were set on fire at Ghotki. Sheema Solangi died while Allah Wadhaye received serious burn injuries.
Meanwhile, SSP Jacobabad Zafar Iqbal informed the court that husband of murdered woman is the resident of Balochistan. He said that they have registered an FIR of the case on March 19 and serious efforts are being made to arrest the culprit.
A married woman Tahir Khoso was murdered in District Jacobabad by her husband over honour issue. Accused Tahir Khoso has allegedly been provided shelter by political Leader in Balochistan.
The SSP sought more time for the arrest. The chief justice upon the requests of DSP and SSP adjourned the hearing till June 10.
