Journalist murdered over ‘facilitating love marriage’

MULTAN- A journalist was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Lodhran allegedly over facilitating a free-will-marriage.
Ajmal Joyia, 36, a local journalist, was passing through a market on his motorcycle with his friend when unidentified gunmen ambushed him.
Ajmal sustained six fatal bullet wounds in different parts of his body and was rushed to DHQ Lodhran where doctors pronounced him dead. His friend, who had also sustained bullet wounds, was undergoing treatment, the hospital sources said.
Nazar Muhammad, father of the deceased, lodged a complaint with the local police, accusing that Iqbal Sial, Riaz Sial, Abbas Sial and two others killed his son.
During initial investigation, it transpired that the late journalist had helped and supported a couple tie the knot a couple of days back. The victim had received life threats a day before his murder, the police said.
