SANGLA HILL
The parks and playgrounds of the district need to be maintained and upgraded but the district administration is paying no heed to the issue, regretted public and civil society members. They also demanded deployment of security men at parks to facilitate the visitors. Public parks and playgrounds are essential for promotion of recreational activities. Parks of Nankana Sahib have lost their attraction because of lack of basic facilities and security arrangements there.
Residents of the city said the absence of gardeners and carelessness had made the parks unattractive for visitors. The largest park of district Nankana Sahib ‘Hill Park’ is facing security problems, water scarcity, absence of washrooms and out-of-order lights. The Hill Park spreading over 37 acres is in pathetic condition with its dilapidated jogging tracks, broken swings and dysfunctional lights.
Benches installed in the park are broken and shrubs can be seen growing left side of the park indicating that it was not maintained properly. Families avoide visiting the park due to its poor management, said a visitor, Mubasher Iqbal. With its improvement and plantation of a variety of roses and other plants, the recreational spot could attract people.
