Govt urged to remove Fazl as Kashmir Committee head

KARACHI The Kashmir Mission USA has demanded of the Government to remove Maulana Fazlur Rehman from the Chairmanship of Pakistans Parliamentary Kashmir Committee as he is not a suitable person to do this job. Therefore, the Government should assign this task to a person, who not only understands the ground realities of the Kashmir issue, but is able to comprehend the wishes of the Kashmiri people. Addressing a press conference held at Karachi Press Club here on Wednesday, Malik Nadeem Abid, Executive Director Kashmir Mission USA, said in order to make Kashmir Policy more viable and effective, the Government is needed to include the representatives of all political parties and class of intelligentsia, comprising of scholars, writers and journalists in the Kashmir Committee. He recommended the Government to re-craft Pakistans Kashmir Policy, which should be approved from the Parliament. He also demanded that the Kashmir Policy be given a constitutional status in the country. We also demand the Government to reactivate Pakistans embassies and consulates across the United States and European countries in a view to highlight the issue of Kashmir with its real spirit at international forums, he said and added that there is a high time for Pakistan to play its due role in uniting various fractions and groups, which have been fighting in Kashmir. He further said our Government has learnt nothing from the past Afghan Policy, which had totally failed in giving desired results and caused socio-political instability inside Afghanistan as well as in the adjoining tribal areas of Pakistan. He said the Kashmir Mission USA is an organisation, which has been supporting Kashmir cause in the US for the last 22 years.
