One-kg heroin seized

KARACHI - Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell, Karachi Airport Unit recovered 1kg fine quality heroin from the baggage of an outgoing passenger at Jinnah International Airport. Custom Officer Qamar Thalho said Customs DEC staff while clearing the baggage of outgoing passengers intercepted a Pakistani passenger Muhammad Asad with a huge consignment of commercial goods including cosmetics, confectionary and readymade garments. Scrutiny of his traveling documents revealed that the passenger was going to Entebbe (Uganda) via Dubai (UAE) by flight EK-605 of Emirates Airlines. Uganda being a high-risk destination required a thorough baggage examination from anti-narcotics point of view. This option was, therefore, exercised which led to the recovery of 1kg fine quality which was cleverly concealed in part of confectionary items.
