GUJRANWALA- Renowned politician and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi played a key role to defuse tension between clashing activists of his party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Gujranwala on Friday. The PTI convoy heading towards Islamabad in connection with "Azadi March" was attacked by PML-N workers in Gujranwala. Javed Hashmi who was leading the march riding a land cruiser was not troubled by the attackers, stated to be PML-N activists, but they pelted stoned and bottles at truck in which the party chairman Imran Khan was traveling. The clash led to minor injuries to several activists belonging to both parties. However, Hashmi who had already passed the avenue of clash when come to known about the situation returned back, came out of his vehicle, and held talks with PML-N leaders. The N-League workers engaged in fight with participants of march gave respect to their former leader and stopped pelting stones and chanting slogans against PTI.
