ISLAMABAD: Adviser on National Security Lt-Gen (retired) Naseer Khan Janjua has been given the additional charge of heading a task force, which is responsible for implementing National Action Plan.
A high-level security meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, took the decision in wake of criticism over NAP’s effective implementation.
The task force will include interior secretary, DG National Counter Terrorism Authority, chief secretaries of all four provinces, inspectors general, home secretaries and additional secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The task force will also be assisted by a representative from each of the intelligence agencies while the military will be represented by Director General Military Operations (DGMO).
Issues pertaining to border management also came under discussion. It was decided that 29 new wings of civil armed forces will be raised to improve border management and ensure internal security.
The meeting also discussed Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill. It was decided that an implementation mechanisms to deal with this law would be put in place at the earliest.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and other high-level civil-military officials participated in the meeting.
