KPK to allow Drug Regulatory Authority

PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt has decided to authorise Federal govt for establishing Drug
Regulatory Authority and in this connection a resolution would be passed in the Provincial Assembly
session summoned on Wednesday.
Briefing media persons regarding Cabinet meeting, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain
said that the Cabinet meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan
Hoti.
The Cabinet meeting discussed the progress of various programmes which were announced by the Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa govt for students and jobless persons.  Mian Iftikhar said that the Cabinet meeting decided
to pass resolution as per the Article 144 of the Constitution to authorise Federal government for
establishing Drug Regulatory Authority and making necessary legislation in this regard.
He said that the Cabinet meeting also decided to give monthly scholarships to the top 10 position-holders
of eight boards of KPK and for this purpose Rs 73m have been allocated.
The meeting will also assess the progress of Bacha Khan Rozgar schemes and decided to continue these
programmes for three years, he said.
The Cabinet was informed that uptill now 34,186 applications have been received in which 28,892 are for
male and 4,896 for female while 400 applications have been received from special persons. 
So far Rs 1,036 million have been spent while 11,582 people have been provided business opportunity and
are getting employment opportunity, he said.
The Cabinet was also apprised regarding Hunarmand Rozgar scheme for which funds of Rs 1.3 billion have
been allocated and the scheme would be inaugurated on March 5, 2012.
He said that the approved funds for this scheme would be handed over to districts. 
Similarly Rs 500 million have been allocated for Benazir Health Support Programme while Rs 701 million
would be spent on skilled development programme, which is a five year programme, he added. 
He said that under this programme, 449 students would be awarded scholarships while 156 students would
be provided training to learn different skills.
