KARACHI – A cop among three people were killed in separate violent incidents here on Monday. A police constable was shot dead in Jamali Goth situated at Sohrab Goth within the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Police said that the victim namely Ghulam Shabbir, 52, was at home when unidentified assailants barged into his house and started indiscriminate firing. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. After getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to heirs.
Police said that the victim was deployed at Sohrab Goth Industrial area police post. Police said he hailed from Khanewal, Punjab. Police suspected that Tehreek-e-Taliban operatives dominated in the area was behind the incident. A man was stabbed to death near Nursery Bus stop, Sharah-e-Faisal within the jurisdiction of Tipu Sultan police station.
Police said that the deceased was identified as Irshad, 43, son of Ghulam Haider, resident of PECHS Block-6. He was going somewhere when unidentified culprits stabbed him to death and managed to flee from the scene. Police shifted the body to JMPC. Police said that the victim was a drug addict and personal enmity was the motive behind the incident.
One Aslam Ahmed succumbed to injuries during treatment in a private hospital. Police said that the victim was wounded in a firing incident at Mumno Goth within the remits of PIB police station on January 10. The body was handed over to heirs after completing medicolegal formalities.
Meanwhile, at least two people were wounded when unidentified persons attacked the petrol pump in Surjani Town area on Monday. At least two unidentified men managed to escape after hurling the hand grenade at the Total petrol pump situated in Khuda Ki Wasti. As a result, a bystander and a security guard were wounded. They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors termed their condition stable.
Police officials also reached the site and initiated investigation. Police officials said that unidentified culprits also attacked the petrol pump few weeks back. They said adding that extortionist elements were behind the attack. They said that police were working on some clues about the group of extortionists behind the incident.
Similarly, a scrap store was also partially damaged after some unidentified miscreants threw a hand grenade at the store from Banaras flyover. Police officials said that the attack was most probably occurred due to extortion-related matter. They police officials said that no loss of life was reported in the incident.
