Partial strike observed against trader’s killing


HAFIZABAD - Partial strike was observed by the traders on Thursday to protest against the murder of Sheikh Aamir Bashir, a local Prize Bond dealer in Lahore Wednesday evening. The deceased had proceeded to Lahore for purchasing prize bonds and when he reached near GPO Chowk after purchasing the Prize Bonds, two armed bandits intercepted his rickshaw and on his resistance shot him dead and snatched away cash and prize bonds worth Rs5 million. His body was brought to Hafizabad today afternoon and laid to rest in the city graveyard. The funeral was attended by a large number of local businessmen including former MPA Dr Muzaffar Ali Sheikh, former Provincial Minister Shoukat Ali Bhatti, former MPA Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan, Sheikh Muhammad Amjad Senior Vice President Punjab Anjuman Tajran and all the traders unions’ officer-bearers, who strongly condemned the murder of Aamir Sheikh and demanded the arrest of the accused within seven days otherwise the local trading community would be constrained to call for complete shutterdown strike in Hafizabad and protest demonstration in Lahore.
