Nisar warns MQM over army bashing

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has criticised Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for its tirade against army and Rangers after the latter raided its headquarters, Nine-Zero, a couple of days ago, calling it intolerable and unacceptable.
“The criticism of MQM against army and Rangers is touching the limits of tolerance,” said a statement issued by the interior ministry. MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday severely criticised Pakistan Army and Rangers on a private TV channel for raiding his party headquarters and its adjoining areas.
The minister questioned whether is it allowed in any other society or country of the world to use such language against its own army. He said that MQM had been demanding in the past to hand over Karachi to army and reminded MQM leadership that this was the same army. “This is the same army whose sacrifices to end terrorism have been appreciated by MQM time and again... this is the same army with whom MQM remained power shareholder for nine years,” he said.
“What kind of hypocrisy is this that MQM appreciated army on one day and on other day objectionable language is used against it by the same party,” he raised question in the statement. “If MQM understands that it is quite right in its stance in connection with raid on its headquarters, it should approach the independent judiciary but it should not make mockery of the law with such type of reaction,” he said.
The minister said that this was itself questionable that convicted persons were also recovered from MQM headquarters during raid. “Instead of addressing the concerns over the issue, MQM has started targeting army in an unreasonable way,” he said, adding that the national interest lies in the fact that the whole nation should stand by army in wake of its sacrifices in the war on terror and to end extremism in the country.
When army is giving scarifies and getting success, scum criticism from MQM is a big question mark, he added.
Chaudhry Nisar stressed that the federal and the Sindh government fully supported Karachi operation and no stone would be left unturned to make Karachi a peaceful city while remaining within the ambit of law. “The action of Rangers is very well within ambit of law and is according to the prescribed principals as agreed earlier for Karachi operation,” he said.
He warned that MQM should avoid using unreasonable language against national security institutions, as this was a bid to divert attention from the real issue.
