Lawyers observe complete strike

RAWALPINDI - The legal fraternity observed a complete strike in district courts on Monday against the feeble security arrangements that claimed four precious human life three days ago. The strike was observed on the call of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and District Bar Association (DBA) owing to which the lawyers did not present before any court while the judges had to defer the hearings of some important cases without further proceedings. DBA President Malik Jawad Khalid, Secretary General Sardar Manzar Bashir including some other senior lawyers, while talking to media men, said that it was the result of frail security arrangements of police that four people were murdered even in broad daylight. They said that police had failed in providing security to the lawyers, applicants, under trial prisoners and other visitors of district courts. A number of times, written applications were given to RPO and CPO to make proper security arrangements in the district courts, but in vain as police did not act positively said DBA President Malik Jawad Khalid adding that all the walk through gates and CCTV cameras installed at district court have dysfunctional. That was why, the killers entered in the district courts on a bike hiding weapons under their shawls and played havoc killing four persons in broad day light in the district court premises, he lamented. Owing to negligence and carelessness of police, Jawad asserted, the judges, lawyers and citizens were felling insecure. The police should devise foolproof security plan with the consultation of members of bar associations so that such brutal incidents could be avoided in future, demanded DBA President Malik Jawad Khalid.
