Water thieves to be dealt with sternly

OUR STAFF REPORTER HAFIZABAD - Gujranwala Division Commissioner Saeed Wahla and RPO Ahmad Mubarik have stressed the need for launching crackdowns on irrigational water pilferers to ensure availability of water to small growers till the end of water courses. They were addressing a meeting of District Heads which was also attended by Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti, Asadullah Arain MPAs, DCO Muhammad Asif and DPO Abdul Rab Chaudhry. They said that no leniency to be shown to such violators of law and action would be taken for the arrest of water thieves. They further said that officials found involved in collusion with the water thieves would also be taken to task. Both the Commissioner and RPO also stressed the need for repairing the roads in the vicinity of Jalalpur Bhattian town. Saeed Wahla and Ahmad Mubarik also asked the local administration to convene the meetings of religious scholars of different sects for ensuring peaceful atmosphere during the forthcoming month of Muharrmul Haram and all-out efforts should be made to ensure peace in the district. The DCO and DPO, while giving briefing to the visiting Officers, said that by the grace of Almighty Allah there is absolute inter-faith and inter-sect harmony in the district. However, the district administration would ensure foolproof arrangements to meet the anti-social elements with iron hands.
