PTI won’t budge on boycott decision, says Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will boycott Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s address to a joint session of parliament Wednesday.

Talking to reporters after a party meeting, which was held to review the boycott decision, Imran Khan said it was not possible for his party to be a part of the parliament’s session.

Earlier, the PTI leadership had hinted that the party may reassess its boycott decision on the request of Turkish Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin.

A PTI delegation had called on the Turkish ambassador on Monday afternoon in a bid to explain the party’s decision to boycott the Turkish president’s address to a joint sitting during which the ambassador made the request.

Erdogan is visiting Pakistan on November 16-17 on the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain. He is also scheduled to address parliament on Wednesday.

Commenting on the Panamagate hearing at the Supreme Court, Imran Khan said, “In order to save one lie, you get yourself trapped in a situation of creating many more lies.”

The PTI chief said the Panamagate case would now find its connections in Qatar now and later, the case would find its strings attached to the Mayfair apartments in London.

Imran Khan reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have resigned seven months back for his accountability in the case.
