QUETTA - A woman was killed in firing on a passenger bus by Levis personnel after it didn’t stop for checking at a check post in Sherani on Wednesday.
According to reports, the passenger bus was on its way from Islamabad to Quetta. The driver was asked to stop for security checking at the Levis check post, but, instead of stopping, he attempted to run over the personnel, on which they opened fire. As a result, a woman was seriously injured and succumbed to her injuries while she was being taken to hospital.
According to Levis sources, the woman, a resident of Azad Kashmir, was coming to Quetta along with her family.
After the incident, the bus driver was taken into custody while all the personnel posted at the checkpoint were placed under suspension by the Quetta deputy commissioner.
It merits mentioning that Levis also fired shots at two motorcyclists when they were asked to stop for security checking at a check post.
ANOTHER DOCTOR ABDUCTED IN BALOCHISTAN
Unidentified gunmen abducted Balochistan Health Department coordinator, Dr Amir Bakhsh here on Wednesday.
Dr Amir Bakhsh was kidnapped from Quetta's Sohrab Road while he was on his way to the health office, sources confirmed.
"The four kidnappers stopped Amir Bakhsh's car at gun point and kidnapped him," the Station House Officer said, adding that he was taken to an unknown location.
The doctor hails from Turbat district and had been working on child and maternal health in Balochistan.
Police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
As many as 25 doctors have so far been kidnapped over the past few years in the province. While most of the kidnappings have been for ransom, the motive behind the latest kidnapping has not yet been determined.
