DASKA
The roof of Government Maternity Health Services Clinic here collapsed during the torrential rain which also inundated the nearby areas.
The office of deputy district officer (health) also came under water. The clinic was in miserable condition with the broken furniture as well. This critical situation needs early attention of the officials concerned. About three to four feet water was standing in the clinic.
The roof of operation-theater room was also collapsed a year ago during heavy rain, which had not yet been repaired. It has not yet been reconstructed, as the health officials have turned a blind eye to the nasty situation.
The maternity clinic was also established in a small-sized room, a room meant for the residence of a local watchman. All the gynea services are provided in this suffocated small room (now the operation room) even the surgeries were also conducted in un-hygienic atmosphere there. The clinic was established at low-lying place, which often becomes inundated due to rainy and sewerage water.
Local people have expressed grave concern over this critical condition and urged Punjab Chief Shahbaz Sharif, Health Secretary Malik Ehsan Iqbal, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Tariq Najeeb Najami and DCO Sialkot Iftikhar Ali Sahu to look into the matter.
