At least seven persons including three women and two children of a family were killed and three others injured when their vehicle collided with an oil tanker near village Khan Bagh here in Gujranwala on Monday morning due to dense fog.
According to police sources, the victim family was going to Faisalabad from Gujranwala when their van collided head on with oil tanker which was coming from Hafizabad, killing seven persons and injuring three others.
Police said the incident occurred due to thick blanket of fogs causing poor visibility.
Rescue 1122 reached the accident scene and shifted the injured and deceased to DHQ Hospital for legal formalities.
Meanwhile Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the accident and condoled with the bereaved family.
The chief minister directed the health authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured persons of the incident.
