QUETTA - The Local Government (Amended) Bill 2014 was tabled in the Balochistan Assembly and the house unanimously passed two resolutions demanding release of funds for the road projects and some others underway in various parts of the province.The assembly session started Wednesday with Speaker Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali in chair. Provincial Minister for Local Government Sardar Mustafa Tareen tabled Balochistan Local Government (Amended) Bill 2014. The house gave exemption to the bill from Balochistan Assembly Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business 1974.Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhel moved resolution demanding the provincial government to approach the federal government for making National Highway Authority bound to deploy Motorway Police on Quetta-Dera Ismail Khan Road to stop uncontrolled driving and violation of traffic laws as these bad habits causing were increase in road mishaps on the highway.Provincial Ministers Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal and Obaidullah Babat, Advisor to Chief Minister Agha Syed Liaquat Ali and MPAs-Abdul Majid Achakzai, Nasrullah Khan Zeray, Manzoor Ahmed Khan Kakar, William Jan Barkat, Miss Arifa Siddique, Miss Spozmai Achakzai and Miss Masooma Hayat tabled a joint and amended resolution for release of funds for repairing and carpeting of Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan Highway, besides deployment of highway police as the dilapidated condition of the road was causing life loss in road accidents.The speaker put both resolutions to the house which passed them unanimously.The question hour was deferred as the movers were not present in the house.The debate on two adjournment motions tabled in 13th January’s session by Awami National Party MPA, Eng Zamarak Piraliza and Pashtoonkahwa Milli Awami Party MPA Manzoor Ahmed Kakar on law and order situation of the province was also made.Participating in the debate, Eng Zamarak said that chief of Kasi tribe and ANP leader Nawab Abdul Zahir Kasi was kidnapped from Quetta and now the kidnappers were demanding ransom for his release from Miran Shah tribal area of Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa province.He pressed the government to take solid measures for release of Nawab Kasi.Adviser to Chief Minister on Finance Mir Khalid Langov said that law and order situation was better by 80 percent in the province, and added that steps were being taken to further improve it to provide security and protection to people.PkMAP MPA, Syed Liaquat Agha alleged that a provincial minister was involved in abducting him (Liaquat Agha) for ransom in previous regime. He said a delegation of Balochistan legislators headed by Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch would take up the issue of abduction of Nawab Kasi and other law and order problems with the federal government in Islamabad. National Party MPA Dr Shama Ishaq demanded punishment for elements involved in heinous crimes and anti-peace activities. She said the incumbent provincial government had overcome the menace of corruption and added that the issue of missing persons was resolved by notable level.Later, the speaker adjourned the house till January Saturday.Three MILITANTS KILLED IN KHUZDAR CLASHAt least three alleged militants were killed and three security personnel sustained injuries in an action carried out by Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Levies in Zeedi area of Khudzar district, some 360 km southeast of Quetta, on Wednesday.The joint action was led by the FC Kalat scouts and Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Abdul Waheed Shah.As per details, the FC and Balochistan Levies conducted a joint action in Zeedi area early in the morning against suspected kidnappers.Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar Abdul Waheed Shah, talking to media said that the FC and Levies raided the tribal elder Mir Rasool Bakhsh Sasoli’s house in Zeedi. “The militants resisted the operation and opened fire while three security personnel were injured. The security personnel returned fire as result three militants were killed on the spot and arrested eight others,” he said, adding, that one hostage was also recovered from the custody of the militants.Security forces seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the militants, he added.The deceased and injured were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Khuzdar.One of the militants was identified as Noor Muhammad son of Muhammad Bakhsh while identification of the other two could not be established.The injured security personnel were identified as Naik Muhammad, Hawaldar Rais Khan and Rehmat Khan.The detained eight people were identified as Muhammad Iqbal, Abdullah, Shafi Muhammad, Muhammad Yousaf, Imdad Ali, Abdul Majeed and Abdul Karim.Khuzdar is considered to be one of the most sensitive districts of Balochistan where militants have been targeting security forces and national installations for more than a decade.After the action the strike was observed in Khuzdar district while all the shops were closed down in the area.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
