Police bust gang, seize huge quantity of drugs

The police claimed to have busted a gang of drug traffickers by arresting its eight members besides seizing huge quantity of narcotics from their possession.
Unveiling details of the surprise raid, Senior Superintendent of Police Raja Urfan Salim told a news conference here that acting on a tip-off Afzalpur (Mirpur) Police led by SHO Inspector Nadeem Arif, stormed the den of most wanted alleged drug trafficker Muhammad Ansar allias Bawa Kala, son of Fazal Elahi at Bariyal area and recovered 10-kg of charas, one kg of heroin from the spot. The police also arrested Mohammad Imran s/o Imanat Ali, the alleged accomplice of the arrested alleged drug paddler and ringleader Muhammad Ansar, he added.
The SSP said that it was extremely tough task to nab the accused red handed since the drug baron had established their den at a deserted dry in north site amidst the Jhelum river. The accused used launches for supply of the drugs.
He said that on separates tip-off, two special raiding police parties, supervised by DSP city Raja Karamat Ullah Khan and DSP City raja Azher iqbal, and headed by Inspector Nadeem Arif along with Sub Inspector Umaar Dar and ASIs Zohaib and Tahir conducted surprise raids at the site of drug traffickers and arrested the accused.
At the same time, another police party of CIA Staff conducted surprise raid on an illicit distillery of liquor at Mehra Bhangiyan locality in the city and nabbed three alleged drug paddlers identified as Amjad s/o Muhammad Shareef, Aseem s/o Muhammad Ayub Bhatti and Raheem Abid s/o Muhammd Ayub. Police also recovered 572 bottles of illicit liquor, a 30-bore pistol, and two magazines contained 30 bullets. The accused were running the illicit distillery since past some time.
Another police party comprising CIA Inspector Muhammad Illayas and Sub Inspectors Imran Qasim and Zaffar Haider Shah  arrested two accused identified as Perveiz allias Paijoo and Ibrar allias Bara and recovered and seized 366 bottles of liquor from the custody of the accused.
Cases have been registered in respective police stations and further investigations are in progress, the SSP said.
