NAB chief’s daughter quits Bahria Town job

ISLAMABAD – In an apparent attempt to bail out the father from the media onslaught over her job matter, the daughter of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman NAB Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari has resigned from a lucrative post in the Bahria Town.
Sources in the Bahria Town confirmed to TheNation that the lady had tendered her resignation on Friday from the job of consultant and she was not more an employee of the housing society.
But the report could not be confirmed from the media officials of NAB, who expressed their ignorance about the development and simply said the matter was irrelevant to them.
Sources aware of the developments taking place on this front say Fasih Bokhari was under tremendous pressure from various circles, particularly media which was raising question about his daughter’s connections with the Bahria Town.
Although, the lady was independent and she is the sole bread earner for her two children, but she had to step down amidst the media onslaught, obviously to facilitate her father.
Ironically, the NAB chairman is being seen with suspicion by both the government and the opposition alike.
The opposition considers him as President Zardari’s buddy and even some very senior people in the main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz charged that Malik Riaz had facilitated his appointment as the National Accountability Bureau  chairman.
They had not only disapproved his appointment, but also moved the apex court against the move.
On the other hand, certain elements in the ruling Pakistan People’s Party were also not comfortable with him and as he had not entertained some of the requests from the government side in filling the key posts in the department.
The reopening of the investigation into the Rs 62 billion DHA Valley scam involving the DHA Islamabad and Bahria Town, which was almost closed by the NAB Rawalpindi, had also disturbed many in the power echelon.
