Seven workers electrocuted in Muzaffargarh

 Seven workers were electrocuted when a Sui gas pipeline which they were laying touched a main power transmission line near Basira village, some 15km from Muzaffargarh.
Reportedly, they were working on a project to supply Sui gas to a hospital and the flood-hit people of Turkish Colony on Saturday evening when the incident occurred.
Muzaffargarh DPO Rai Zamir-ul-Haq said a contractor’s company was doing the work round the clock to complete it before the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the hospital and the colony constructed with the financial assistance of Turkey.
As the workers were busy doing their work, all of a sudden, the pipe touched the 11-KV electric line and all the workers received a severe shock. As a result, four workers died on the spot and the remaining three died on their way to hospital. Those who died were identified as Adnan, Javaid, Muhammad Ali, Liaquat Ali, Yaseen, Irshad ALi and Shehzad.
They all belonged to Okara district. Police and Rescue officials confirmed the death of the seven workers. According to the hospital authorities, four workers died on the spot and three expired in the hospital before getting any medical aid.
