JUI-F, PML-N set to finalise seat adjustment in KPK

PESHAWAR – In order to chalk out a strategy for seat adjustment with Pakistan Muslim League (N), Jamiat Uelma-e-Islam (F) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter planned its three-point formula for the upcoming general elections.
In this connection, Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam (F) has completed its homework and a seven-member committee of the party held a meeting in its provincial secretariat Peshawar where they discussed ways and means for seat adjustment.
The participants on this occasion agreed for seat adjustment on the basis of three points according to which, the party, which has won a seat in the previous elections, would again be given to the same party. Secondly, the constituencies in which there is no strong candidate of both the parties would be given to the runner-up candidate.
While on those where the position of both the parties are equal would be decided on the number of votes and any party who secured majority would nominate its candidate.
The proposed formula would be presented to Pakistan Muslim League (N), however, the proposal of PML (N) would come to surface in the next few days.
Talking to TheNation, Provincial Information Secretary Abdul Jalil Jan said that they are waiting for the proposals of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and after their proposals, both the parties would move forward. He added that if Pakistan Muslim League (N) demands any relaxation, then they would consider it after party meetings.
Provincial Information Secretary Pakistan Muslim League (N) Youth Wing and candidate from PK-03 Peshawar, Ali Khan Yousafzi, said that the popularity graph of his party is increasing with each passing day and it is expected that without seat adjustment Pakistan Muslim League (N) would clean sweep the upcoming general elections.
During the previous general election, JUI-F had secured 12 seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, which also included three reserved seats while Pakistan Muslim League (N) secured nine seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
As compared to Pakistan Muslim League (N), the position of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam seems strong, however, there is a major difference between the past and present as after entrance of Ameer Muqam to Pakistan Muslim League (N) the party has got strengthened at provincial level.
Other parties, which are in contacts with Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam (F), include Qaumi Watan Party and Pakistan People’s Party, however, there are little possibilities with them.
Likewise, Pakistan Muslim League (N) is also in contact with Jamaat-e-Islami and it would also set their terms and conditions for seat-to-seat adjustment.
The Pakistan Muslim League (N) would consider their points and their prose and cons during upcoming general election.
However they would express their point of view regarding JUI (F) formula in the next few days.
