Wake-up call

KARAK - Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), a non governmental organisation, held two-day training workshop in collaboration with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) for male and female activists in Badeenkhel area of Karak to create awareness among masses about their basic civic and constitutional rights.
On the occasion, speakers Javed Iqbal Khattak, Waqar Ahmad Khattak, Sanaullah Khattak, Nasir Iqbal Khattak and Muqadar Khan Afridi said that the women should be given their Islamic and constitutional rights. They urged that education should be provided to the young generation so that they could be able to know about their constitutional rights.
They said that rights and duties go side by side and the citizens should also perform their duties to make them able to get the rights. They claimed that drinking water, roads, education and health were the basic amenities of the citizens and it was the responsibility of state to provide them these facilities.
The speakers said that forming village organisations do not mean that the donor organisations would give them funds to execute projects as their main objective was to unite the local people for resolving their basic problems on self help basis.
On the occasion, the participants of the workshops, including Sobidar (Retd) Ajab Khan and headmaster (Retd) Gul Sahib Khan resolved that they would decorate their sons and daughters with ornament of education on priority basis to bring about a real change in the society.
