Tree plantation drive

SWAT - Commissioner Malakand Division Kifiyatullah Khan has said that trees play an important role in climate change.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of tree plantation campaign 2015 at his office here Sunday. On this occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Police Malakand Azad Khan, Chief Conservator Malakand Region Shah Wazir Khan, District Forest Officer Swat Qazi Younus and other officers were also present. The commissioner said that due to deficiency of forests, Pakistan stands 2nd in climate changing areas of the world. He said that anyone who was found guilty of illegal deforestation will be fined. He said that local security teams and volunteers were deployed to protect forests and nurseries. While briefing Conservator, Shah Wazir Khan said that 5.5 million tress will be planted on 12644 acres of land in the current campaign while 2.8 million trees were already planted in the region during past campaigns.
