Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that those talking of change cannot bring any change as they are surrounded by the turncoats, adding that if the PPP candidate won, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would come down to Jalalpur to extend thanks to the voters.
Addressing an election meeting in Jalalpur Pirwala on Tuesday, he said that Imran Khan talked of bringing change in the country but he was surrounded by the persons who frequently changed their loyalties. “Can he (Imran Khan) tell who are sitting on his left and right sides?” he posed a question. He maintained that Imran Khan had said that Qasim Noon was not N League’s candidate but what about his own candidate.
He claimed that the PPPP was the only political party that granted ticket to a loyal worker. He said that the turncoats could not bring any change in the country. Recalling his tenure as Prime Minister, he said that the PPPP launched record development in Jalalpur during his regime and if his party’s candidate won, this activity would be launched again.
He said that with the creation of Saraiki province, the region would get rid of poverty, hunger and joblessness. He added that the region would get due share of its resources and funds which would eliminate sense of deprivation.
He said that he approached the residents of Jalalpur Pirwala with a message to them from the Quaid-e-Awam Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. “The Shaheed (Bhutto) revived the honour of an ordinary citizen, granted him identity and declared that the masses were the source of power. He said that he came to the residents of the constituency and asked them that who should be given ticket. “Now it is your responsibility to make this worker successful,” he added. He said that the rulers in Lahore and Islamabad decided the tickets of other parties while the ticket of PPPP candidate was decided by the residents of the constituency.
Speaking on this occasion, the PPP candidate Malik Akram Kanhu said that the PPPP granted ticket to him despite the fact that he was an ordinary citizen and not any Makhdoom or big landlord.
