‘Zar Baba’ gimmickry to work no more: Shahbaz

TOBA TEK SINGH/ LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that after ruining the economy through unprecedented corruption and pushing the nation into darkness over the last four and a half years, Zar Baba has now remembered Eid Milan Party but his gimmickry will not work. He said that Zar Baba and his forty thieves will have to give account of each penny of the looted national wealth. Shahbaz pledged that people will get rid of 'Zardaron' through the power of vote. He said that the country will be put on the road to progress by eliminating corruption. The Punjab CM made the remarks while addressing a public meeting at ground of Government High School Pirmahal here on Thursday. Prior to arrival at the venue of the public meeting, the chief minister laid foundation stone of urban water supply scheme to be completed at a cost of Rs320 million to provide potable water to residents of Pirmahal. Earlier, former Minister of State Ch Asadur Rehman, while presenting address of welcome appreciated the performance of Punjab government in the field of public service and presented some demands for the development of the area. Senator Muhammad Hamza, MNA Junaid Anwaar Ch, MPA sSardar Muhammad Ayub Khan Gadhi, Mian Muhammad Rafique, Nazia Raheel, Makhdoom Ali Raza, PML-N District President Ch Amjad Ali Javed, former MPA Liaqat Ali Shaukat and other leaders were present on the occasion. Addressing the public meeting Shahbaz Sharif said that 'Zar Baba' and his forty thieves looted national resources ruthlessly and corruption of billions of rupees was committed in rental power project, steel mills and other national institutions. "They will have to return the looted money to the poor people," he asserted, adding that the Punjab government might have committed some mistakes but every penny had been spent on public service in his tenure. The CM said that development projects worth billions of rupees had been completed across the province, which was exhibited to all and sundry. Shahbaz pointed out that Turkey had made huge investment in Punjab which reflected confidence in the Punjab govt. He also challenged Mr Zardari to bring investment of even a penny from Turkey. He said that this was not the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and if the nation wanted to put the country on the path of progress and prosperity, it would have to bring Nawaz Sharif to power. Shahbaz Sharif asked the people of Pirmahal to get rid of 'Zardari gang' and promised that their all demands would be fulfilled and a new era of development would usher in. The Punjab CM disclosed that ownership rights of land to more than 5,000 inherited tenants in district Toba Tek Singh were being given, adding that this step would help eliminate their fear of remaining tenants for the entire life. He said that five marla plots each were being distributed among poor deserving families under Jinnah Abadi Scheme and district Toba Tek Singh had also been included in it.  While accepting some demands presented in the welcome address, the chief minister announced granting tehsil status to Pirmahal, construction of sports complex for youth and setting up of Daanish School. Earlier, the Punjab CM met Syed Shiraz Shah Qadri, Sajjada Nasheen of Darbar Syed Abdullah Shah and Hizbur Rehman Islamic Academy Principal Syed Muhammad Faraz Shah at Mauza Pir Qadir Bakhsh of Tehsil Kamalia. He inspected various sections of academy and appreciated the educational services of the management. On the occasion, Syed Muhammad Shiraz Shah Qadri and his brother Syed Faraz Shah announced support for the policies of the Punjab government. MNA Junaid Anwaar Chaudhry, MPA Nazia Raheel, Mian Sajidur Rehman and Mustafa Ramdey were also present on the occasion.
