A tea stall owner was burnt alive by two students of Government College of Technology Qasimpur Colony here on Saturday. According to doctors at Nishtar Hospital, 70 percent of the body of Naeem Bhatti has burnt and he is in critical condition. The accused namely Moawia and Moiz were arrested by the Mumtaabad Police, who alleged that the man sexually harassed them. However, the injured Naeem Bhatti told the police that the accused asked him to serve them with free tea and set him ablaze on refusal.
Police sources said that the assailants sprinkled petrol on him and set him on fire. He was rushed to burn unit of Nishtar Hospital in critical condition. The Mumtazabad Police registered a case against the accused and investigation were underway till filing of this report.
TRAIN RUNS MAN OVER: A mentally retarded man was crushed to death by a train here in Mumtazabad area on Saturday afternoon, said Rescue 1122 sources. The deceased was identified as Nasir,30, resident of Mumtazabad. The body was moved to city morgue for autopsy. The witnesses of the incident told police that the ill-fated man suddenly jumped in front of a coming train and got himself killed.
