Islamabad: The appointment of Absar Alam as chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has been challenged in Islamabad High court (IHC).
Petitioner Shahid Orakzai took the stance that government has issued the notification for the appointment of Absar Alam as chairman PEMRA on 11th November, while the case of appointment of chairman PEMRA is pending hearing in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
He further said that the IHC has sought replies from the government in the case two times. The first reply was sought from the government on 21st October, while the second the reply was sought on 5th November. The government cannot appoint the PEMRA chairman till the decision of the case in the court. . A request was made in plea that court should issue stay order on the appointment of Absar Alam as Chairman PEMRA.
