PESHAWAR: A Nato helicopter violated Pakistani airspace near the Torkham border in the Khyber Agency, however, security officials denied reports. Local sources said a Nato helicopter entered Pakistani territory at around 11am and hovered in the air for a couple of minutes. An official statement has yet to be issued. Civil officials of the political administration of the Khyber Agency have refused to comment on the issue.
Some security agencies, while contradicting such reports, said Nato forces are engaged in a military action across the border, stressing their action was confined to Afghan territories. It is not the first time that the US and Nato helicopters violated Pakistan airspace as on several occasions they not only violated aerial space, but also shelled and targeted border security forces in Mohmand Agency at Salala check post. They also violated Pakistan aerial limits in North and South Waziristan agencies.–Staff Reporter
