LEAs nick 22 seminary students

On suspicion of affiliation with Taliban, the personnel of law enforcement and intelligence agencies on Sunday arrested at least 22 seminary students including one foreigner during joint raids on two seminaries here.
The raids were made on two seminaries namely Mazaharul Uloom and Anwarul Uloom, established by Late former MMA MNA Qazi Hameed Ullah Khan, who was known as teacher of supreme Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Umer. “Most of the arrested students belong to Kohistan, Chilas, Waziristan and other tribal areas while one student identified as Bukchok is from Uzbekistan, the sources said. They informed that all the arrested students lacked necessary identification documents and had been admitted to the seminaries without any approval or permission of the authorities.
The sources claimed that that the raids were made in the light of investigation report of Chilas incident in which DPO Halal Khan and two Army officers had been martyred by the terrorists. The arrested students were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. It is to be noted that founder of the seminaries Late Qazi Hamidullah elected MNA by defeating PML-N’s candidate Khurram Dastgir Khan in the 2002 general elections.
Meanwhile, a private TV channel reported that the personnel of LEAs and intelligence agencies arrested about 21 foreign students from two seminaries.
The tv reported sources as saying that the security forces raided the two seminaries Mazaherul Uloom and Anwarul Uloom and arrested 21 students who had refused to disclosed their identity to policemen. The arrested students hailed from Afghanistan and northern areas of Pakistan.
