PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the Awami National Party, on the basis of its performance, is rapidly becoming the most popular political party of the province and it will sweep the next elections by its five years tremendous performance.
He observed that people of areas, from where it never got representation, were joining ANP. This he said while addressing a ceremony held in connection with ANP joining of Malik Musahtaq of Baloo at PK-12 Nowshera. Malik Mushtaq along with his other colleagues Ismail Khan, Tufail Khan, Amanullah, Tariq Khan, Shaukat Hayat and Iftikhar Khan, their families and supporters joined ANP.
The minister while welcoming the new comers in ANP said that their decision of joining the caravan of Bacha Khan was correct and timely, adding that it was a need of the hour to strengthen their hands in this critical situation.
The people support to ANP truly reflects their confidence on the leadership of Asfandyar Wali Khan and policies of the provincial government, he asserted.
Mian Iftikhar continued that the ANP always did the politics of integrity and solidarity of this land and its people and it proved that practically up till now 550 party office-bearers and workers including its two MPAs embraced martyrdom for this sacred cause.
He stated that if there was not the ANP government, the situation would be different and there would be the government of terrorists in the entire country.
The minister admitted that his contact with his electorate was not up to the mark and he was deeply feeling it. He however said that dedicated workers of his party would fill the vacuum and make for it, adding that they would not let the people remain in a sense of deprivation. Announcing special funds for Baloo Union Council, he said that he had provided equal funds to all the union councils of his constituency during the past four years.
He said despite provision of funds, developmental workers did not do work in Baloo Union Council, adding that the matter would be investigated and responsible government functionaries and concerned contractors would be brought to book. “They would be dealt with sternly,” he said. He declared that there would be no compromise on the standard of work, nor any relation or friendship in this regard would be considered.
Earlier, Mian Iftikhar laid the foundation stone of Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Degree College Akbarpura. The college would be spread over an area of 41 kanals and be completed by June 2015 at a cost of Rs 209.581 million.
Meanwhile, in a bid to improve the living standard of tribal people and provide the traders and general masses with good transportation facilities, the political administration has successfully completed pavement of streets in Pashat and Khar Bazaars in Bajaur Agency.
Another street pavement scheme has also been completed in village Bar Kalan in Mamund Tehsil.
According to a press release issued from FATA Secretariat the street’s of Pashat and Khar Bazaars were in dilapidated conditions. During the rainy seasons the traders, shopkeepers and the passengers at bus stand were facing great hardships in movement. Therefore, the political administration on priority basis initiated the streets pavement program and paved 1650-meter long plain concrete streets along with construction of 1650-meters long drains system in Pashat Bazar.
Similarly, In Khar Bazar a 76-metre long and 40-metre wide bus stand has been paved. For proper sanitation system a 61-metre long sanitation drainage system has been constructed.
Moreover, 60-metre long fiberglass shade has also been fixed to protect the shopkeepers from hot wheatear. Meanwhile, In Bar Kalan village of Tehsil Mamund, 2134-meters long residential streets have been paved and 915-meter long side drains system has been constructed. To prevent it from any damages 152-meter long retaining wall has also been constructed in the area. The development work is part of the Government’s pledged to provide basic amenities to the tribal communities. These schemes would not only provide better transportation and sanitation facilities to the traders and shop keepers but would also enhance the socio-economic condition of the area. This will benefit more than 16500 tribal people and traders in the agency.
