No letup in power outages at Iftar, Sehr

ISLAMABAD - Contrary to the governments claims that masses will not suffer from electricity loadshedding during Sehr and Iftar timings, there is no letup in power outages during the specified timings in many areas of the country. TheNation reliably learnt that in many cities of the countries masses have been forced to face long hours loadshedding during Sehr and Iftar timings. It has been learnt that in many areas there was no electricity from 02:00 a.m. to 05:00 a.m. in Sehr and same 3 hours power outage was recorded in Iftar timings. It is pertinent to mention here that the government had announced that it will avoid loadshedding in both these timings during Ramazan and will manage the shortfall in other hours but practically it didnt happen except in the Capital. A person living in Faisalabad city told that from the very first day of Ramazan they see no electricity during Sehr and Iftar and in total they were facing 6-8 hours loadshedding. Same was the case in Sargodha, its adjacent areas and many other areas of the country. Though the government claims that power shortfall has decreased significantly but residents of many areas are still facing long hours loadshedding. An official of the ministry of water and power said that weak infrastructure was also a big reason for the miseries of masses living in some particular areas. The distribution of energy on equal basis is not an easy task and infrastructure is not supportive in many cases. Another important thing is that the government sets the priorities for the different sectors of the country. But he said that as far as the Sehr and Iftar timings are concerned this seemed not a big deal to avoid loadshedding at those timings as the industrys supply can be shutdown at that time but the government could not be successful in this promise as well and that is unfortunate.
