Dubbing entire interior ministry 'failure' based on single incident is unfair: Marriyum

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb responded to calls for Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to resign, saying that it would be "unfair" to consider interior ministry a failure on the basis of a single attack happened at Quetta Hospital in August.

The calls for Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to resign have been poured in after a report of an inquiry commission under the Supreme Court shut government inaction against the militants involved in Quetta hospital attack following year on August 8.

While addressing media she said, "It is impossible that in such a short period a government creates a policy, implements it and then also sees the results of it... and we are [already] seeing the results. But to negate the performance of a whole department based on one incident is unfair to the institution."

Further adding to the response she said that ministry is well aware of the "gaps in system" and all of them will be fixed "with time".

"The institution [interior ministry] has worked day and night to bring the PM's vision to life, it kept all provincial governments on board," she added.

She said, interior ministry will look into the matters personally because, "Reports such as this one are an opportunity to learn... they add value to the matters."

On August 8, Quetta’s Civil Hospital was bombed by a sucide bimber that killed 74 people and left scores of injured.
The proscribed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) had claimed responsibility for the bombing which occurred at the gates of the building housing the emergency ward.

The report of a judicial commission said that interior minister has obvious ties with with the heads of some banned groups.
