Delay in removal of pylons halting smooth traffic flow


DASKA - The inordinate delay in removal of all pylons from Daska city’s three main roads by the Gepco and PTCL is causing severe hindrances in the smooth flow of traffic, it has been learnt.
Reportedly, the construction of road leading from Civil Rest House Chowk Daska to Lorry Adda Daska and widening of Stadium Road were completed two and half years ago with total cost of Rs150 million, but the Gepco and PTCL officials have not yet removed all the electric and telephone poles from the centre of these roads due to which people were facing great hardships while travelling.
When contacted, the TMA officials concerned said that the authority had paid Rs3.8 million to Gepco two years ago for the removal of these pylons. The Gepco officials have also sent a report of additional expenditures for removing them from Kutchery Road and College Road.
Meanwhile, Daska Bar Association President Muhammad Ch Latif Ghani Mayo, Markazi Anjuman Tajran President Sheikh Abid Hussain, Thinkers’ Forum President Muhammad Jamil Sethi and local social, business and political circles have expressed grave concern over this situation and urged the Chief Minister to send a special team to Daska for inspection the situation.
