NWA EMPLOYEES DEMAND SALARIES
Expressing concern over delay in payment of salaries, employees of Municipal Committee from North Warizistan Agency on Monday demanded the government to announce special grant to ensure salaries’ disbursement to them. Speaking at a news conference at press club here on Monday, Mumtaz Khan, senior clerk of Municipal Committee of the tribal agency, said that salaries and other allowances have not been paid to employees for the last three years. He said that the unnecessary delay in payment has created great unrest among them. He informed the Municipal Committee has been facing enormous financial constraints due to decrease in collection from its local properties due to military operation in the agency. Whereas, he added, the Ministry of SAFRON had also stopped issuing grant to the committee, which caused delay in disbursement of salaries and run affairs of the Municipal committee in North Waziristan Agency.
Despite unfavourable security conditions, he said, the employees were fully performing duties in the tribal agency but the government’s attitude towards them was unjustifiable. He said the issue of delay of payment was raised on several occasions with officials concerned at the FATA Secretariat but in vain.
Mumtaz said the Municipal Committee was running without Chief Officer for last two-year, demanding the government to immediately appoint the officer from deserving senior staff of the committee.
The employees warned that if the government did not meet their demand, then they will stage a protest sit-in outside the Governor House Peshawar.
