KARACHI -The Crime Investigation Departments (CID) Anti-Extremists Cell (AEC) on Friday claimed to have seized a huge cache of arms from a bus, arrived in Karachi from Swat and arrested the bus driver. According to the CID officials, on a tip-off, the officials of the AEC raided Shahid Mehran coach which had just arrived from Swat at Banaras Chowk near Macro Store and recovered a huge cache of arms concealed in secret apartments of the bus. SSP Chaudhry Aslam said the police had arrested driver of the coach Akbar Khan and was being investigated. The police claimed that the arms included three Kalash-nikovs, two repeater guns, two 222 rifles, two 7mm rifles, 10 TT-pistols, 500 Kalashnikov bullets and 300 TT-pistol rounds from the bus. The police officials said the driver during investigation revealed that an arms dealer Islam had handed him over the weapons for deliver to a man namely Jabbar in Karachi. The police officials claimed that Jabbar further delivers these smuggled arms to Taliban militants and other banned outfits in the city. The police officials also cited the driver as disclosing to the investigators that arms had been smuggled to Karachi from Peshawar, Swat and other areas through passenger buses on regular basis. Further investigation is continued.
