PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has announced a package worth Rs 250 million for development of Hangu and prosperity of its people.
Addressing a public gathering held at Hangu on Monday, he said that followers of Bacha Khan did not believe in politics based on false promises. He said that the people should thwart evil designs of damaging religious harmony, unity and Islamic brotherhood. He said a red flag revolution swept Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving no space for any other revolution. He said the sacrifices of ANP for security and protection of the motherland and nation were a secret to none. He said that completion of political manifesto was due to acumen of the leadership and support of the people. He said that slogan of control over resources was not limited to Pakhtunkhwa, rather it was general for all districts. He said that 10 per cent of the revenue from oil, gas and hydel power would be spent on the uplift of the producing districts while 2100MW power would be generated from water resources. He said that solution to extremism lied in peace and promotion of education.
ANP district president and MNA Pir Haider Shah chaired the gathering. Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Hussain Shah Hussaini and Syed Zahid Hussain Shah addressed the gathering. Senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Provincial Minister Amjid Afridi, ANP local leaders and party workers were also present on the occasion. Prominent Hangu personalities Hussain Shah Hussaini and Zahid Hussain Shah along with their hundreds of companions announced joining ANP on the occasion.
The chief minister threw detailed light on steps of the present government it undertook for development of Hangu during the past four years and said that he would honour every promise made with the people. He said they did not believe in politics based on false promises because their ancestors had not taught them such lessons. He lauded efforts of the representative jirga for restoration of peace in Hangu and said that people of Hangu should destroy heinous agenda of enemies through religious harmony and unity. He said the present government kept on track the development process in the province in spite of terrorism, insurgency and natural disasters. He said the ever-increasing resources of oil and gas in southern districts would make them the major economic hub in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that royalty of oil, gas and hydel power producing areas had been increased 100 per cent for realising, Khpla Khawra Khpal Ikhtyar and these resources worth billion rupees will be spent on development of these areas.
Welcoming newly affiliates of the party, the chief minister said that sacrifices of ANP for eradication of terrorism, maintenance of peace and services to Pakhtuns were evident. He said promotion of education and unity was the only way to get rid of extremism, adding that the present government was spending more resources on generalising education. He cited Sturi Da Pakhtunkhwa, Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa, Nway Sahar Laptop Scheme, Bacha Khan Khapal Rozgar Scheme and Hunarmand Rozgar Scheme in particular in this connection. He said that these programmes were aimed at encouraging talented youths in government institutes and bearing educational expenditures of children in private schools in far-flung areas. He said 25,000 laptops would be distributed among intelligent students costing Rs 1 billion. He said that they could not tolerate sense of indifference in their youth and thousands of jobless youths were benefiting from interest free loans while the five per cent mark up on loan worth Rs 3 lakh under Hunarmand Rozgar Scheme had also been removed. He said Rs 1 billion and Rs 500 million had been allocated during the current year for free treatment of Cancer and Hepatitis respectively.
Regarding completed and ongoing projects in Hangu, the chief minister said that currently 6 schemes of construction of science and IT blocks in four different colleges of the district costing Rs 70.90 million is in progress while work on up gradation of primary schools to Middle costing Rs 30 million and middle to High School costing Rs 50 million has been completed. He said that work on up gradation of High Schools to High Secondary costing Rs 90 million is in progress, while 70 per cent work on terrorism devastated schools costing Rs 70.80 million has been accomplished. He said that million rupees have been allocated for roads and water supply schemes and projects worth Rs 1.5 billion for development of Hangu are in progress.
Responding to welcome address, the chief minister directed commissioner and revenue department for submission of report on allotment of government land in Hangu. He assured that local people would not be deprived of their right. He agreed up gradation of Doaba to Tehsil level and said that change in administrative boundaries is currently not possible due to census process; however, it will be implemented soon after the completion of census. He announced new development scheme amounting to Rs 250 million for Hangu under which Rs 40 million has been allocated for three water supply schemes Rs 20.5 million for establishment of new primary schools, Rs 40 million for up gradation of primary, middle and high schools, Rs 2 million each for establishment of Madrassa and Graveyards, Rs 10 million for clean drinking water, Rs 50 million for roads and Rs 100 million for construction of stadium and other needs. He approved grant worth Rs 20 million for Hangu College.
The chief minister assured that he would accompany the people of Hangu in establishment of peace and struggle for development. The chief minister laid the foundation stone of grid station costing Rs 165.753 million.
He also formally launched anti polio campaign by administering polio drops to children less than five years of age. Secretary Health Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and district authorities of health department were also present on the occasion
