Nawaz opposed, Zardari was in favor of giving safe exit to Musharraf: Zafarul Haq

ISLAMABAD- Leader of the House in the Senate and PML-N senior leader Raja Zafarul Haq says Nawaz Sharif was not in favor of giving safe exit to former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, while Asif Ali Zardari supported safe exit for Musharraf.

In an interview, Zafarul Haq said Nawaz Sharif had lodged his protest with Zardari at that time, but the PPP and its allied ruling parties were in
favour of giving safe exit to Musharraf. The PML-N leader said no hidden hands were supporting Imran Khan or Tahirul Qadri and they have their own agendas. He said Imran Khan should not protest on Independence Day and reconsider his policy. He said Imran Khan changes
his statements on a daily basis and now he was demanding audit of the whole election.

To a question, Zafarul Haq said the sudden statement of Asif Ali Zardari in support of Imran Khan is the outcome of the government’s determination to bring back the country’s money stashed in the Swiss banks.

He said there was no need of mid-term elections as it would cause further chaos. He said the PML-N had nothing to do with irregularities in the general elections as it was the job of the caretaker governments. He said the government should admit that it could not come up with a detailed and effective point of view on this issue.
