RAWALPINDI - The provincial government has acquired 273 acres of land to build a multi-storey residential colony for industrial workers of Rawalpindi district and adjoining areas.
The land was acquired near Islamabad's E-17 sector and work would be kicked off soon. To this effect, a meeting was held here at Commissioner's office on Monday with Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar in chair. The minister was informed about the land acquisition and told that work will be launched after fulfilment of legal procedures.
On this occasion, the minister thanked Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for his cooperation in acquisition of land. He also appreciated the efforts of district administration which made it possible for handing over the land for the colony to labour department and said that a mechanism has been evolved to monitor the pace of progress at different stages.
Sarwar said that a very suitable site for labour colony has been selected which is approachable for industrial workers of Rawalpindi and its surrounding areas.
