Pakistan to provide full support to Saudi Arabia: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, has said that the sanctity of the two holy mosques and extending full support to its custodian (Saudi Arabia) are pivotal points of Pakistan’s foreign policy.He said that any threat to the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia will evoke a strong response from Pakistan.
While addressing a session of foreign ministers of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah on the issue of Yemen, Aziz said that Pakistan wanted peaceful resolution of Yemen conflict to promote peace and security in the region. He said that the overwhelming sentiment in Pakistan was also in favour of a peaceful settlement to the crisis.
“There is a need to ensure that the region is not further destabilized by terrorists,” he said adding that “We are committed to enhancing cooperation with GCC-countries to combat extremism and terrorism”. “Pakistan strongly condemns the Houthis attempt to overthrow a legitimate government in Yemen,” he said. He said Pakistan enjoys very close and brotherly relations with Muslim countries, especially the GCC countries.
