KHANEWAL - Due to poor management and loose grip on field staff by the district revenue authorities, land mafia has become stronger and Patwaris of the area are taking bribe openly to issue property and other revenue related documents, while the percentage of revenue recovery is decreasing day by day, it has been learnt.
Reportedly, despite public complaints, no action has been taken by ADC Asif Ali Farrukh and AC Aamir Karim, but anti corruption has taken the action and arrested two Patwaris red-handed while taking bribe from the villagers for issuing revenue documents.
The locals have demanded the Chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Secretary, Commissioner Multan Khuram Ali Agha to probe into this serious matter and direct the district administration for prompt as well as strict action against land mafia and corrupt revenue staff.
In Chak 162/10R, the some people have grabbed the state land allocated for patwar khana. The matter was brought in the notice of Khanewal Assistant Commissioner Aamir Karim by the locals, but no action has been taken yet.  Similarly, land mafia are encroaching on state lands of Punjab government as well as lands of Auqaf Department with the help of revenue authorities in different villages and surrounding areas of Khanewal city like Chak 88/10R, 168/10R and 84/10R, bye-pass Jahanian Road, Chak Shahana Road (land of Government Girls Primary School), Kamran Colony opposite tehsil office, basti Nizamabad, People’s Colony near college stop, Shadman Town, Colony No 3 near amen town and other areas.
The people of the area have alleged that a number of complications against corruption of revenue staff were sent to ADC Asif Ali Furrakh, but he did nothing. While, on the action of district Anti-Corruption Department, two Patwaris Muhammad Tahir and Shahbaz were captured when they were taking bribe from the villagers.
It has been learnt that One of the corrupt revenue staffers is allegedly working as right hand of the assistant commissioner Khanewal, and enjoying the powers of AC. ADC Khanewal Asif Ali Farrukh and AC Aamir karim has denied the support to revenue staff in this regards, and they assured that they would take the action against accused employees.
