SWAT - The five-day colourful Swat Snow Festival 2014 concluded here at the beautiful tourist resort Malam Jabba on Sunday. The festival pulled a large number of tourists from all over the country. Pakistan Army in collaboration with the government of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organised the festival. As compare to previous year, a large number of tourists, including men, women and children attended the festival. Many families used to visit from different destinations to the skiing areas on daily basis to enjoy the festival. Peshawar Corps Commander Khalid Rabbani was the chief guest on the concluding day of the festival. He distributed prizes and shields among the participants of the ski festival, who had come from all over the country. Speaking on the occasion Lt General Khalid Rabbani said, “We have organised this event to let the world know that peace has been restored in Swat. Doors for foreign visitors are now opened. We will work with civil government side by side to promote tourism in the region,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army also organised Swat Musical Night at Wadudia Hall, which was attended by hundreds of locals, tourists, army and civil officers, elders of the valley and students. Ambassadors of Norway and Austrian were also present on the occasion. After seven years Mingora, the social and economic hub of Swat valley, resonated with the sound of music. Hamayoon Khan a famous Pashto singer and Jawad Ahmed a popular Punjabi singer were the key performers.
