BANNU: At least 10 people including four policemen sustained injuries when a bomb planted near a police vehicle exploded on Railway Road in Bannu district on Friday.
According to details, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted with a motorcycle was detonated with a remote-controlled device. Target of the militants was police patrolling vehicle on Railway Road near Mandan Gate locality.
Police said as soon as the mobile team of security forces passed by the suspected motorcycle it blasted and injured at least 10 people including four policemen.
Soon after the explosion, police and rescue teams immediately rushed to the site of the incident and shifted the injured to district headquarters hospital. However, no one was in critical condition, hospital sources said. –Staff Reporter
According to bomb disposal squad (BDS) the bomb contained at least five kilograms of explosive material, and was detonated through remote-controlled device. Police cordoned off the area and carried out a search operation to nab the miscreant, however, no arrest was made in this regard. Besides, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile KPK PTI President Azam Swati, General Secretary Khalid Masoodm and Information Secretary MNA Ayesha Gulalai have condemned Friday blast near Bannu police vehicle and prayed for early recovery of those injured in the explosion.
