ISLAMABAD - A day after the Sharif family submitted documents as evidence before the SC about their sources of money used for the purchase of properties in Mayfair, Chairman PTI Imran Khan took a jibe at the prime minister and said that the premier was not telling the truth before the apex court.
Khan, while addressing the convention of the Insaf Students Federation (ISF), the student wing of the PTI, said that the prime minister was not telling the truth about the money trail of Mayfair properties in the Supreme Court (SC).
Advising his party loyalists to always speak truth, amid scuffles and rumpus at the Convention Center, the PTI chief advised them to always speak the truth if they wanted to achieve something big for themselves and for the society.
“But not that ‘truth’ which nowadays Nawaz Sharif has been speaking before the Supreme Court,” Khan said sarcastically.
Out of the total 19 minutes of his speech, Khan spent almost six minutes to bring the PTI loyalists in order by repeatedly asking them to “sit down” and “maintain silence”.
A number of PTI youngsters gathered around the stage as Khan took to the rostrum.
The day would come when I would deliver a speech and you would listen to it carefully, while sitting in your chairs but it seems that day is far away, Khan commented.
However, the PTI chairperson further avoided giving any political comment on a corruption case about Sharif family being heard by the apex court and only focused on counting the “good habits” what he said made a person perfect in terms of his/her behaviour.
The opposition leader advised the party’s student activists to adopt four habits—to speak truth, to overcome fears, to conquer their egos and to always stand by the justice.
These four qualities will bring change in your lives directly and in society and Pakistan indirectly, he said.
Khan supported his points, while quoting verses of the Quran and couplets from Allama Iqbal.
He said spending capital in human resource development and strengthening state institutions could lead Pakistan towards betterment.
“A country cannot prosper until we invest in education and health of its people. And in KP, PTI is focusing on these two most-neglected sectors,” Khan claimed.
He urged the need to make strong and independent the state institutions including the NAB, the police, the judiciary, the tax authorities, etc.
The PTI chairman said that the KP government had also been focusing on that front.
Khan asked the student activists of the party to run membership drive and following drive elections among students would be held.
PTI MNA Asad Umar in his speech advised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to take Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with him.
“It would be better if you [President Erdogan] take your friend [PM Nawaz Sharif] with you,” Umar commented in response to “go Nawaz go” slogans raised by the youth.
Chief Minister KP Pervaiz Khattak, Jehangir Khan Tareen, Naeemul Haque, Murad Saeed, and PTI student leaders also spoke on the occasion.
