Karachi - PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday demanded the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accept his four demands by December 27 or he will announce a long march against his government on December 27.
Addressing ‘Salam Shuhada’ rally at Karsaz here, he said the PM should form a parliamentary national security committee, get PPP bill over Panamagate approved from the national assembly, implement APC resolution on CPEC convened by Asif Ali Zardari and appoint a permanent foreign minister.
“If these demands are not met then I will announce a long march on December 27 (the death anniversary of his mother Benazir Bhutto) from Garhi Khuda Bux, and it will be a legitimate march (of a kind) that the government has not witnessed yet,” he said.
He also announced to celebrate ‘the biggest’ Dewali (a Hindu festival) in the country on October 30 to show that the minorities enjoy due rights in Pakistan.
Bilawal Bhutto said that he would continue to criticise the Sharifs, though national unity was the need of the hour.
PPP chairman blamed Nawaz Sharif for failing to implement National Action Plan (NAP) in its full sprit and said the plan, which was meant for the whole country, was limited to Karachi, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He demanded that a parliamentary committee be formed to oversee NAP.
He said he had no personal issues with Nawaz Sharif but his policies were not going in right direction. “Enemies are taking advantage of the policies of the prime minister and it is weakening the country,” he said.
He lambasted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blaming Pakistan for supporting terrorism and said that they had lost their important leaders like Benazir Bhutto, Bashir Bilour and others in country’s war against terrorism.
“How Modi can lecture us on terrorism when he himself is a butcher of Muslims in Gujrat and Kashmir,” he said, adding that this person was not allowed even to travel to US due to his terrorist activities before being elected as prime minister.
He said that Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan both wooed Indian Prime Minister Modi with the former inviting him to his granddaughter’s marriage and the latter wishing to meet him during his personal visit to India. “Even at that time we said that this man could not be trusted due to his enmity towards the Muslims and Pakistanis.”
Bilawal alleged that PM Nawaz was dragging the country towards destruction and PPP was the only party that could rid the people of terrorism, hunger, illiteracy, sectarianism, ethnicity and Takht-e-Raiwand- a reference to rule of Sharif brothers.
Referring to Imran Khan, he said a player ‘is being given charge’ to hunt a lion. “This childish politics from a player would not make any dent to Nawaz Sharif; instead, it will further strengthen him.”
Riding in a bullet proof container, Bilawal led his party’s rally that began its journey from Bilawal House Karachi at 1pm and reached Karsaz at around 10:30pm, after covering a distance of over 22kms in over nine hours. Besides police security, a 200 members of ‘Janisaran-e-Benazir’ kept cordoning the truck of the PPP chief.
He addressed the participants of the rally at four points: at Bilawal House and Numaish Chowrangi, near Quaid’s mausoleum, and finally at Karsaz.
The PPP chairman said that he had made a change in Sindh and if given a chance he would bring positive changes to Punjab and rest of the country.
Bilawal Bhutto said he had said during his speech on October 18 last year that they would cut the cord of the kite (of MQM) being flown through phone and now they had made it possible. “Today the kite is being cut and those who sought division of Sindh are themselves facing divisions.
“Arrow of Benazir Bhutto will shine everywhere in Karachi in upcoming elections and the entire Karachi would echo with the sound of ‘boo ka’taa’,” he vowed.
