LAKKI MARWAT - Four representatives of pharmaceutical companies who had been kidnapped near Titterkhel on Saturday night managed to free themselves from clutches of kidnappers in the frontier tribal region on Monday.
Sources said that Riaz Ahmad, a resident of Nowshera and his colleagues, including Muhammad Hunmayn, Taimur Ahmad and Nasir Ali were kidnapped near Titterkhel on Indus Highway when they were going to Aezerkhel village, Lakki Marwat in their motorcar to attend the marriage ceremony of their friend Tehseenullah. “Six armed men wearing army uniform had intercepted their car and after checking their identity cards the kidnappers drove them in unknown direction,” they maintained. They said that the kidnappers abandoned the car near Marwat canal and took the abducted men to the frontier tribal region on foot. The sources told that area police later recovered the car near Marwat canal and approached political administration for the recovery of the kidnapped men. Following the directives of FR Lakki Political Agent Syed Mujeebur Rehman the political administration officials tightened security on all checkpoints and conducted raids on suspected hideouts of criminals’ gangs, they revealed.
They told that heavy contingent of levy and Khasadar personnel headed by Assistant Political Agent Abdul Shakoor Dawar also combed the tribal region to hunt kidnappers and ensure safe release of abducted persons. “Noticing the presence of law enforcers and fearing arrest the kidnappers could not shift the representatives of pharmaceutical companies to the North Wziristan Agency,” they added. They told that talking advantage of the situation the kidnapped men managed to flee from the clutches of kidnappers and reached a village to take shelter there. The villagers later handed them over to political administration.
BID TO SMUGGLE DRY TEA FOILED
The political administration of frontier region claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of dry tea from the tribal area to the settled parts of Lakki district.
An official said that acting on a tip off political agent Syed Mujeebur Rehman formed a raiding party headed by assistant political agent and directed it to foil the smuggling attempt at all costs. He said that APA Abdul Shakoor Dawar along with political naib tehsildar Fazal Wadood and contingent of levy and Khasadar personnel stopped a truck near Mastikhel check post and recovered 65 bags of dry tea from it.
“The law enforcers impounded the truck and arrested three alleged smugglers including Rauf Khan, Zafran and Behram,” he told.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested three persons who had reportedly molested a 14 years old boy in Shahbazkhel on September 9. Police said that on Sep 9, three persons, including Suhail, Mudassir and Saddam took Nayab, a student of grade eight at a private school to the bhaitak (guestroom) of Suhail where they gave him intoxicated drink to make him unconscious.
They said that the accused alter sexually molested the boy and made a video of the incident. Police said that they had arrested culprits nominated in the FIR and started investigation into the incident.
