Maj-Gen Sanaullah and Lance Naik Irfan Sattar who were martyred in a landmine blast in Upper Dir on Sunday, were laid to rest with full military honours in their ancestral graveyards here on Monday. As per detail, funeral for Maj-Gen Sanaullah was offered in his hometown Dawoodkhel in Mianwali district Monday afternoon.
A large number of senior army officials and politicians attended the funeral and was later laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.
Meanwhile, Lance Naik Irfan Sattar was laid to rest in his hometown Mehmood Kot with full military honours here on Monday. He embraced martyrdom an IED attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan along with Maj-Gen Sanaullah Khan and Lt-Col Tauseef while returning after inspecting forward position on Pak-Afghan border in the area of Upper Dir on Sunday.
Earlier, his funeral was offered in Rawalpindi. A guard of honour was presented to Lance Naik Irfan Sattar when he was being buried in his hometown. Floral wreaths were laid on his grave by Army officers on the behalf of President, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff.
His Father Rana Abdul Sattar said he was proud of his son Irfan who laid down his life for the country. He pledged that he was ready to sacrifice his another three sons for the motherland.
He was survived by a widow, two children - two-year-old Noman and four-year-old Umaira Irfan. Hundreds of people including political leaders attended the funeral for the martyr.
