Mother feed protects primary teeth, prevents feeder syndrome

MULTAN
Mother-feed not only helps protect primary teeth of kids, but also prevents them from feeder syndrome, said Nishtar Institute of Dentistry Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Ilyas.
In an interview with this agency on Tuesday, Dr Muhammad Ilyas said that when a baby fell victim to feeder syndrome, he kept on feeder with him all the time in which mothers normally gave him milk, juices and other drinks which resulted in disorders for primary teeth.
Commonly known as simple milk teeth, primary teeth grew from five-and-a-half months to 24 months, he said, adding that permanent teeth grew from five-and-a half years to thirteen years except wisdom teeth. The NID MS informed that use of feeders for kids for a long time also created problems for permanent teeth too.
To a question, he said that wisdom teeth were four in number-two at upper side and two at lower side and added that people have attached myths about wisdom teeth which were in-genuine.
About excessive usage of braces among children for aligning and straighten teeth, Dr Ilyas said that changing habits of diet had caused several problems for teeth.
Children these days did not peel sugarcane rather took soft diets like burgers and other junk foods  that really created problems for their teeth, the dentist informed.
He said that one did never heard of one’s forefathers complaining of ache while growing of wisdom teeth because they used to take hard diet.
