President calls for strong ties with Canada

ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain has underscored Pakistan’s desire for a broad-based, long term and sustainable relationship between Pakistan and Canada.
The President expressed these views while talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Canada Tariq Azim Khan, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.
The President underlined the importance of Canada as an important trading partner and called for taking effective measures for further enhancement of bilateral trade noting that the current trade volume is not commensurate with the potential of both economies. He advised the High Commissioner-designate to invite Canadian companies for exploration and drilling of oil and gas in Pakistan.
The President stressed for regular exchange of business and cultural delegations between the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations. The President expressed satisfaction that Pakistani immigrants are contributing in various capacities in the development of Canadian society and economy.
He congratulated the High Commissioner-designate on his new assignment and wished him success in discharge of his new responsibilities.
